lights out at the brain farm

many, many americans find george bush morally offensive, but that hasn't stopped him from being president. i wonder if he'd change his tune if his father developed alzheimer's.

dictators of playgirl

saddampants. so my question is: since when did the united states care about violating the geneva convention? when they tortured iraqi prisoners? when they tried to create and "extra-legal" detainment center at guantanamo bay? maybe it's the abuses in afghanistan, which they've hidden much better because there's no central detainment center (and we care less about nationless terrorists than members of a sovereign country, no matter what the enmity might be). whatever it is, it seems ludicrous, and hypocritical, that the united states military would be upset about embarrassing a prisoner, since it's clearly already done that and more.
our military needs more civilian accountability, something that isn't going to happen while a death-loving bigoted born-again ass is president. i wonder how so many americans can be dumb enough to vote for someone dumber than themselves.

i blame nixon.

our high-handed republican congressional leaders are trying to dictate power to us again. this government in power has forgotten that it serves the people, not itself. it is neglecting its duty to direct the country and instead is wielding power like a bat, to knock aside those who would oppose it. these republicans, they will not stop until they have absolute control of this country. this is not democracy, this is a slow coup. evolution into kakistocracy.
i won't blink, or be surprised, if they declare a state of emergency before the end of bush's term and postpone the next election simply to stay in power. it happens everywhere else--who's to say the world's most powerful country is immune to such perfidy and treason?
if not bush, then frist, or whoever comes next. be ready.

oo-ay oo-ay oo-uh eeg nun oh-ow

ludicrous censorship at any speed.

get aids and die, president bush says.

yay brazil!
damn anti-health bush administration.

no religion in education

our world is going insane. not to mention stupid.

while dogmatically promoting science has it's own risks, i much prefer that to the evils or relgion and the fundamentalist's belief that he has a right, no, a duty, to dictate what others learn/say/think/believe. you can't tell me what to do, and you have no right to force that religious crap on me. especially in america. especially in our schools.

hey, i got my jesuit education. i know what i'm talking about.
