the air we drink, the water we breathe.
an important spending bill on water projects should have the votes to override gwbutthead's veto. bush claims to have vetoed it because it was too expensive. this is the same guy who spent six years creating the largest budget deficit in american history. he oversaw the largest expansion of the federal government in something like 50 years. he didn't even veto anything until the democrats took power in congress. do we need more proof that our president is a liar and a hypocrite, and the worst american president ever? history won't be kind to his failure in iraq or his failures at home. a hundred years from now, when they're writing the history of american decline, gwbuttfucker will be seen as the start of the fall. after nearly eight years of progress and stability, he has divided the nation, thrown it into two quagmire wars, and stripped citizens of their civil rights.
but don't think i let the democrats off the hook. the divisions and polarisations endemic in politics will further drive this once-great nation into the ground. there will come a day, hopefully not in your lifetime but we'll see, when right-thinking americans will be embarassed to be associated with this country and the corrupt political system that abuses it.
step one: re-align districts in a non-partisan way--no more gerrymandering.
step two: restrict lobbying and campaign financing as much as constitutionally viable.
step three: educate the populace. an educated citizenry makes clinging to power more difficult, but makes for a stronger nation. this should happen at all levels, and include funding for the arts, both participation in and appreciation of.
step four: stop election fraud.
step five: for government to regain the peoples' trust and faith, it has to be honest and well-run. politicians have to work for the people in their constituencies and also nationally. they have to limit pork and special interests. they have to stop cheating, lying, taking bribes, and skirting issues. they have to stop pandering to the people and do what is right for them. this has to happen at all levels of government, from the lowest village council to the federal congress, president, and supreme court justices.
step six: work together.
step seven: guarantee a non-political bureaucracy, with people appointed based on merit, not as favors to friends and supporters. fema, i'm looking at you.
i don't think anyone's listening.
