i'm going to jail, but america's going to hell

"It's a mystery to me how we've elected such right-wing lawmakers who are trying to keep government off our backs, but apparently don't mind putting government in our bedrooms," said Thelma Underberg, executive director of NARAL Pro-Choice South Dakota. "I think it is time to get active and push the pendulum back the other way."

big-government conservatives are ruining the country. not just on this issue, but on education, health care, pensions, taxes, welfare, freedom, religion, liberty, and privacy. anyone who claims to want the government to stop regulating big business yet also supports the government regulationg your private life, well, they're a hypocritical bastard. when the revolution comes, we'll line them up against the wall and gun them down like the dogs they are.

i'm going to get in trouble for this one

"The proposition of internal division in our fight against terrorism isn't based in fact," says Lea Anne McBride, a spokeswoman for Vice President Dick Cheney. "This administration is united in its commitment to protect Americans, defeat terrorism and grow democracy.")

such unanimity terrifies me. a world without dissent is a world where dictators rule at whim and everyone else is oppressed or willing crony complicit in oppression. clearly this administration believes in promoting a false front (a lie) of unanimity while it oppresses any and all who are (so far) powerless to stop it. i'm pretty liberal in most of my ideas, but i believe in a much smaller government, a much less intrusive government, than the one we have now. especially one that allows itself, without legal or constitutional authority, to make up the authority to spy on its people and fight wars on completely made up pretenses. the "war on terror" will last for ever, but we cannot give this president or this government (or any president or government) free rein to run roughshod over our rights and liberties. we must stop this authoritarian rule, we must restrain the executive by any means necessary. if our elected officials won't do their part in the system of checks and balances our founding fathers constructed to keep this nation great and balanced and fair to all, we must take the fight into our own hands.

but you cowards aren't with me, and i'm not brave enough to fight this fight alone.
