Talking Victim
A sexual assault victim may be charged with contempt for violating a gag order regarding her attackers. Part of their plea deal was that no one would talk about the case and their names would not be made public (the article does not name them). She felt that was an unfair violation of her free speech--especially since (she claims) she wasn't consulted on the deal. I'm curious to see how this pans out as a free speech case. I'd be surprised if the state could prohibit her talking about her personal experiences without her agreement. That opens the door for all sorts of speech restrictions that simply aren't tenable under the First Amendment. I doubt this gets to the Supreme Court.
